With the torrential downpours that marked this year’s Download now behind us and a couple of weeks before Sonisphere UK hits us square between the eyes, it’d be easy to forget that the summer holds far more in store for hard rock and metal fans who like to mix their music with mud and mayhem.

From its humble beginnings at the Assembly Rooms in Derby in 2001, Bloodstock has since grown into the biggest independent metal festival in the UK.

Held at the picturesque location of Walton on Trent in Derbyshire, BOA has won the hearts and minds of heavy music fans by consistently showcasing the strongest metal line up out there and 2011 looks set to continue the assault.

Not for the faint-hearted, the festival which is being held from 12-14 August has secured headline sets from MOTÖRHEAD, W.A.S.P and IMMORTAL, plus an undercard boasting some of metal’s most exciting names, including DEVIN TOWNSEND, TRIPTYKON, MORBID ANGEL, HAMMERFALL, AT THE GATES and many, many more.

2010’s event secured Best Festival Under 15,000 at the Live UK Music Business Awards as well as two nominations in the UK Festival Awards.

With a taste for the best metal and heavy rock acts from these shores and across the globe, you can expect some 12,000 metal heads descending on Derbyshire in August 2011 for a weekend of unadulterated full on Heavy Metal!

Add to this a Hammer Horror fancy dress theme, a signing tent where you can meet your favourite bands, and VIP experiences available for those who like that extra bit of luxury with their camping, this really is an unmissable date in the headbangers’ calendar.
