Bikini Kill have now announced the rescheduled dates for their 2020 tour, which had to be postponed due to Covid-19.
The tour was intended to kick off in March, with two shows in the bands hometown of Olympia, Washington to begin.
Once the pandemic took a hold in the US, it was clear they would not be able to go ahead, and fans have been waiting to hear about new dates ever since.
Touring will now kick off for Bikini Kill in September 2021, still starting in Olympia at the Capitol theatre, on September 2nd and 3rd.
They will then tour throughout autumn, finally wrapping up in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 20th.
As with many of the shows and tour that are being rescheduled, original tickets will be honoured for the new dates, and refunds will be available for those no longer able to attend the show.
Bikini Kill will be warming up with a European tour in May 2021. They’ll be playing shows in Brussels, Paris, London, and Glasgow, with tickets going on sale Thursday, July 16th, at 10 AM local time.
They’re also scheduled to play at Burger Records’ Burger Boogaloo Festival in Oakland, on July 10th 2021.
This all follows their brief 2019 tour, which marked their first shows since the band split up in 1997, helping them make sure they still had a fanbase, and also still enjoyed touring.
Their date in London in 2019, their ffirst UK performance in over 20 years
, was so successful they had to add an extra night, to keep up with the demand.
It was clearly what they hoped it would be, and when the band get back on the road in 2021, it will be with the original line up of Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, and Kathi Wilcox, alongside additional guitarist Erica Dawn Lyle.
