Having already received recognition from the likes of Billboard, CLASH, The Line of Best Fit and BBC Introducing London, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Ben Hobbs returns to the music scene with new track ‘How We Care.’
Based in South London, Ben fuses bedroom pop with 70s and 80s nostalgia. Think of it as The Weeknd meets David Bowie and Peter Gabriel. His latest project ‘How We Care’ is a rich blend of fiery electric strings, sonic nods and a pulsing drumbeat, which together compliment his gracious vocals.
Discussing the creative process behind the track, Ben tells us: “I’d been listening quite a lot to RY X and John Mayer at that time and I really wanted a song that was soulful with a contemporary spin, and a guitar solo. I was introduced to a songwriter called Paul Usher and we were sat working on this idea that had a moody guitar riff and verse. Paul suggested taking it somewhere really different for the chorus. We’d been talking loads about Marvin Gaye and Leon Ware songs and we really just combined and blended these ideas into what you hear today.”
Having released his two EP’s ‘Sweet Enough’ (2016) and ‘Blue Sky’ (2018), Ben has already accumulated a following. His first four singles ‘Sweet Enough’, ‘Wishful Thinking’, ‘Cold Sweat’ and ‘Animals’ landed on Spotify’s illustrious New Music Friday US Playlist, putting him in a strong position as a modern streaming artist. Ben is also a familiar face in the live circuit, having supported Alex Clare in Germany and showcasing at Swedish festival ‘Where’s The Music.’ In 2017 he embarked on a headline tour in Asia, performing shows in Bangkok and a number of cities across China.

After stepping away from the industry to improve his craft, Ben attended several writing sessions with Paul Usher (Magistrates); leading to the evolution of ‘How We Care.’ His new number is a direct result of the new-found collaboration and represents a slight sonic departure from the past, but a powerful leap towards a successful future.
