London-based artist Aniya has today marked her arrival with ‘Demon’ – an ethereal noir-pop gem, harking back to the early sounds of Banks and Lana Del Rey.
Premiering this past weekend on The Line Of Best Fit, the hauntingly beautiful ‘Demon’ leaves you thirsty for more. With its devastatingly honest lyrics and trip-hop rhythms, the track emanates a sombre yet enchanting sound. It questions self-destruction and allows the listener to channel Aniya’s feelings of delicacy, vulnerability and empowerment.
She says of the debut single; “’Demon’ is your destructive alter-ego which at every turn tries to show its ugly face… It’s a horrible thing, a constant voice in your head that holds you back.”

The track was written and co-produced by Aniya with finishing touches from Engine Earz (Jorja Smith) and additional track work from Tony Cousins (Adele, Massive Attack & Annie Lennox).
“…haunting yet memorable…this might just differentiate Aniya in the crowded alternative pop market.” – The Line Of Best Fit
‘Demon’ places a firm marker in the sand for what is set to be an exciting career for such a young talent. Expect plenty more to come from Aniya this year.
