‘Fix To Fix’ is the much anticipated and welcome ”comeback” of Adam Day AKA Hidden States. Formerly known as County Line Runner, he was on the crest of a wave in 2019 having only shared two tracks with the world which led to incredible opportunities.
Frustratingly circumstances changed, opportunities were stolen, life presented a whole set of new challenges and disappointments but most importantly opportunities to grow as a person and artist.
Still very much in their infancy as a band, Adam found himself sharing a bill with Neil Young, he was getting unsolicited support and fans in the vein of Marcus Mumford and producer Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur, The Pretenders, New Order). Apple TV’s global smash hit and flagship show Ted Lasso came calling to use his music (they used ‘Saw You In A Dream’) and Alex da Kid, flew Adam to LA and signed him to his record label KIDinaKORNER – home to Imagine Dragons and Skylar Grey… dreamworld stuff!
Then…? a global pandemic hits the world thwarting touring, festival appearances, live sessions and everything in between – the EP was released with Adam only able to watch on what should have been a major breakthrough period for him!
Three years on and a change of name to Hidden States (a change provoked by the associations his old one had accumulated in recent years!), Adam releases ‘Fix To Fix’, a hauntingly understated yet highly infectious track occupying a liminal state between U2’s ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ and Coldplay’s ‘Parachutes’. Produced by Bill Ryder Jones, the track reflects on his past three years, his challenges, disappointments but how the curve balls life can throw at you allow you to grow.
