Brighton indie pop five-piece, Fickle Friends, brought their unique and groovy sound to Liverpool’s Art Club Loft on Sunday night.

Fickle Friends are so passionate about music that they toured the U.K. and Europe for two years, including 53 festivals, before they had a manager, publisher or record label. Formed in 2013, the five friends made it their duty to make their music known. They’re currently recording their debut album which is set to be released next summer (I know, it’s too far away).

The night started with the young and hungry Liverpool raised band, N¥TCLUB. Their enthusiasm for rock’n’roll got our blood pumping immediately.
We were also blessed with HUNTAR, a London artist whose songs are climbing the charts of Spotify – check out 4AM and Anyway. They’re proper tunes.

9pm arrived and Fickle Friends finally took to the stage. Welcomed with warm and giddy cheers, they launched into their popular single ‘Crybaby’. Pure pop bliss.

Performing their newest single ‘Brooklyn’ along with unknown material from their debut album, the band made the room their own. Vocalist Natti Shiner sounded even better live than on record. A fan favourite was Jack Wilson’s ability to use the keyboard so incredibly, as well as Harry Herrington’s love for his bass.
Taking pride place behind the wicked drum set, Sam Morris made sure we could feel the dramatic beats throughout the venue. Finally, Chris Hall literally didn’t stop smiling for the whole gig. The happiest guitar player I’ve ever seen.

Singles such as ‘Say No More’ and ‘Swim’ were ridiculously good live. There’s nothing better than live music and Fickle Friends are one of the best examples for it.

It was impressive to see that a very committed Irish fan (@Aislingx_x) flew in for the Liverpool show and is attending the London gig at Heaven, which will be the band’s biggest headline show yet.

Having left the stage buzzing and overwhelmed, the band made sure they met every single fan and even did a raffle with so that merch prizes could be won.

Entertaining, energetic and completely lost in the music, Fickle Friends put on a show and a half. It was a pleasure to have them in Liverpool and we hope to see them very soon.
