Cast arrived on stage just after 9PM, the four piece Liverpudlian’s were greeted warmly by the packed Tivoli venue. The tour, billed in the press as a celebration of their classic All Change album, soon got into full flow during first track Alright.

A fine example of a Britpop classic, resonating with the crowd and instantly proving the band have still got an appetite for live music. All the great Scouse tinged indie pop songs followed; Sandstorm, Mankind and Fine Time had the crowd singing along in support.

This show at the Tivoli in Buckley was the first port of call on their 13 date, 15 year anniversary tour.

The band were clearly pleased to be back on stage and re-visiting the tracks from their most successful album, which they played flawlessly and with evident enjoyment.

There was little interaction with the crowd, just the old fashioned play the album track list and appreciate the tunes exhibition.

Walkaway received the biggest buzz of the night so far; a melodic, sprawling and moving track with lyrics that are just waiting to be scrutinised for clues to Powers’ mindset during some darker times.

John Powers vocals seemed to perfectly capture the mid to late nineties, the Britpop generation, the dawning of a new millennium, before video streaming and digital downloads and when the musical industry that was less driven by celebrity; glamour or infamy.

Final song of the night was the long, guitar riff driven Two Of A Kind which displayed a heavier and more rock driven side to their persona. A rather abrupt finish followed, to what was an otherwise perfect performance that left the crowd definitely aching for more.

With rumours that members of the La’s were in the venue last night to witness the reunion and new material in the pipe line, Cast should most certainly be on your December gig wish list.
