Liverpool International Music Festival, also known as LIMF, is set to return to the city this summer.
It will be the third annual event, showcasing once more music from around the world, alongside the great sounds that Liverpool has to offer.
It is undeniable that our beloved city is home to all different cultures and nationalities, bringing in amazing music from these respective countries. LIMF celebrates the diversity in Liverpool, and shines a spotlight on our city’s music heritage.
The past two years, the event has taken place over 4 days, with stages all around the city centre, and hundreds of performances.
The debut year of the event was 2013; stages were placed on the Pier Head, at St. George’s hall, in Sefton Park, Camp and Furnace, Croxteth Country Park, Matthew Street and The Cavern Club.
Artists who performed that year included Union J, Eliza Doolittle, Little Mix and JLS as part of their farewell tour.
The event also saw Liverpool’s own musicians performing: Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Alister Said, Shannen Bamford and DJ Bernie Connor being just a minor few of the acts.
It also included West Derby’s Food and Drink festival.
2014’s event extended over 16 days and was headlined by hip-hop reggae fusion musician Shaggy, who performed to over 35,000 people on the central stage. He was one of 200 acts performing in the city from all over the world.
During last year’s LIMF, Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, said: “We were overwhelmed by the response to the inaugural LIMF last year, and today, people still tell me that the Sefton Park gigs were the highlight of their summer. There’s more of a focus on the park this year, and without a doubt, it will be the place to be during the August bank holiday for all the family.”
Juice FMs Summer Jam programme was arguably the most popular, featuring acts such as Lemar, The Hoosiers, Marsha Ambrosius, The Farm, John Power and Rustie, with a back to back DJ set with Kanye West producer Evian Christ.
More information about the 2015 line up will be released later this year at http://www.limfestival.com/
