It is official. The festival season has commenced as Glastonbury is well underway and the Liverpool International Music Festival is just around the corner, so here is a neat guide on what entertainment is coming your way.

bluedot.

Described as an ‘intergalactic festival of music, science, arts, culture and the exploration of space’, this award winning festival is too interesting to miss. The weekend consists of listening to live music with a gorgeous backdrop of Jodrell Bank, watching live science experiments and viewing immersive artwork. bluedot’s mission is:

LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

Celebrating its fifth birthday this year, LIMF (Liverpool International Music Festival) will be featuring some of the world’s best upcoming and established artists. Playing this year will be the likes of the electronic duo Gorgon City, Jax Jones, Naughty Boy and Corinne Bailey Rae. This year’s theme is called ‘Remember the Times’ with an aim to explore and showcase some of the best musical moments from across the decades. Artists will be playing throughout the weekend as part of either LIMF Summer Jam, LIMF Academy or LIMF Presents at Sefton Park or Sefton Park Palm House.

Truck

Claimed to be ‘the Godfather of small festivals’ Truck is one of the longest running small festivals in the country. Set in the rural Oxfordshire fields, Truck Festival is a small, independent and family friendly music festival. Equipped with saloon bars, nine stages, funfair rides and even glamping, Truck Festival is a definitely a feel-good getaway not to miss this summer.

Make sure to take your wellies and raincoat to this Derbyshire festival, as the fields are bound to be muddy! Every year for one weekend only, festival-goers have the incredible opportunity to enjoy themselves in the beautiful Peak District. The festival will not only hold an incredible line up, but also a wide range of local ciders and ales as well as a selection of mouth-watering food. LATITUDE

Set at the top of a hill, The Obelisk Arena overlooks the entire site which provides a stunning view for spectators accompanied by a weekend of brilliant music. From theatre, to dancing on The Waterfront Stage, to a hilarious comedy lineup and even a SpeakEasy stage for poets, authors and for debates, it is surely a weekend not to miss.

VICTORIOUS

This August Bank Holiday weekend will see a battle for the festivals, but Victorious is a strong contender. Set on The Common and Castle Field in the beautiful seaside location of Portsmouth, there is set to be a brilliant lineup. The likes of Madness, Olly Murs, Rita Ora and Elbow will be playing!

FESTIVAL NO. 6

Described as a luxury, bespoke banquet of music arts and culture, Festival No. 6 is multi award winning for its unique and picturesque experiences under the Portmeirion stars. Its main stage is a Mediterranean-inspired, Grade II-listed fantasy village that is surrounded by an estuary, endless mountains and deep woodlands. The festival’s website says: “During the festival, the village and surrounding woodlands come alive as a unique series of surreal and inspiring venues. You’re invited to join us this September for our sixth year celebration.”
