He’s been in the business for 20 years and at 36, Robin Thicke has topped charts around the world with Blurred Lines.
And it looks as though with age, he’s finding his job more and more enjoyable.
Robin said: “It couldn’t be more exciting. After two decades of work it’s great to finally have this level of success. I’m certainly not an overnight success.
“This year feel likes the beginning for me, because I’ve made a certain type of music my whole career. But this time I made fun music rather than music for myself, it’s music to make people happy.
“I’m living proof your dreams can come true, but it might just take a little longer than you first hoped.”
Robin’s reflection on the highlight of his career came as he wowed crowds at London’s iTunes Festival this week with a varied set of classics like Give It 2 U and a cover of Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together.
But as well as adoring fans and number ones in countless countries, Robin and Pharrell Williams have faced criticism over the song’s ‘sexist’ lyrics and music video.
Defending Blurred Lines, he said: “It was never our intention to be derogatory about women in any way.
“The song’s message is that man is not your maker. We are saying that women don’t need men to define them. A lot of the criticism came after the song was already a hit in a bunch of places.
“Pharrell and I love our mothers and girlfriends too much to offend anyone.”
Robin’s first five albums are being re-relased as a set on October 14th.
