A host of new names have been added to the line-ups for the twin Reading and Leeds festivals.
Staged over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Reading is the world’s longest running pop festival – dating back to 1961 – with Leeds added in the 1999.
Heading up the BBC Introducing stage on Friday at Reading will be Marsicans, an emergent indie-pop band accompanied by the solo rock artist LION and the grunge trio The Mysteriness.
Marsicans have landed the headline status after the successful release of their “Little Things” single last month.
Elsewhere in the roster have also been added Two Feet, Allen Rayman, Amy Becker, Vistas and Cassia.
All these new bands join the festival’s four headliners, revealed last November.
The 1975, Post Malone, Twenty One Pilots and Foo Fighters will all been seen on the main stage.
And it will also play host to the likes of Royal Blood, Blossoms, Twin Atlantic and Bastille.
The event organizer, Live Nation, also announced the festival will be plastic-free by 2021 following Glastonbury’s example.
“The adverse effects of climate change are undeniable, and we want to use our place on the world stage to be part of the solution. Together our concerts, venues, festivals, and offices around the world are setting new sustainability standards for live events,” said Michael Rapino, president of Live Nation Entertainment.
The festivals run from Friday 23 August to Sunday 25 August but anyone wanting to book a camping site had better hurry.
Three-say camping tickets on the official website for Reading are “sold out” while you can get them elsewhere for around £380.
Weekend camping tickets for Leeds are still available at £205.
