Reading and Leeds have announced more acts that will accompany headliners Biffy Clyro, Green Day, and Eminem.
On the Main Stage will be four-piece Bedford alternative rock band, and iTunes’ Best New Rock Artist of 2012, Don Broco, with their infamously raucous rough-edged riffs alongside New York band, The Pretty Reckless, fronted by lead singer Taylor Momsen who brings equal measures of seething rage and tempered vulnerability to their sound.
The NME/Radio 1 Stage line-up continues to impress with the brilliantly entertaining Darwin Deez joining the bill alongside alternative rock band Deaf Havana, hotly tipped Night Engine, with their modern take on dance-era-Bowie sounds, Irish folk band Villagers and Californian surf-rockers Wavves.
Over on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage Skrillex label signing, Alvin Risk, will be brining his dark, aggressive dubstep to the stage alongside London four-piece, Post War Years and electronic music duo Pegboard Nerds.
Joining the line-up for The Lock Up/Rock Stage will be hardcore connoisseurs Feed The Rhino, playing their blend of rough riff-heavy hardcore tunes, as well as Manchester five piece Sonic Boom Six with their ska/reggae/punk and dupstep influenced set.
Also announced are Canadian band The Creepshow, who use horror films as a point of reference for their music; rising talent Rat Attack; British hardcore band Palm Reader, with their usual punchy riffs; the energetic Brighton based, Gnarwolves; rising punk band, Off With Their Heads; guitarist, songwriter and singer Chuck Ragan; Anti Vigilante, ahead of their European tour; four-piece punk rockers, Sharks and the hotly tipped Great Cynics, whilst as part of the Rock Stage line-up we welcome Legendary industrial-rock band Filter, as well as pioneers of the ‘djent’ genre, Hacktivist, bringing their brilliant dense, complex and very hardcore strain of heavy music; three-piece rock band The Virginmarys; American rockers Beware Of Darkness and rising Portland stars Hawk Eyes.
The Festival Republic Stage continues to deliver the best music stars of tomorrow, with LA based four-piece PAPA; critically acclaimed electronic music duo Mount Kimbie; Charlie Boyer And The Voyeurs with their intoxicating blend of grinding guitars, rolling organs and frantic energy; arthouse cinema and post punk influenced Savages; New York based critics’ favourite DIIV; Dan Croll with his mix of electro and folk; alternative pop rockers Sons & Lovers; Frankie & The Heartstrings who are back with their second album; musical male and female duo In The Valley Below; Leeds rock ‘n’ rollers China Rats and Australian four-piece San Cisco offering up their brash and uncompromising indie to the festival.
Finally, Reading and Leeds are welcoming British rapper Itch with his blend of UK rap and rock riffs to the BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage, as well as Chicago based Chance The Rapper who has been heavily championed by Zane Lowe for his thrilling take on hip-hop instrumentals, beats, and bars.
