FESTIVAL OF HOUSE, a new two day Scottish music festival devoted entirely to the electronic genre today lands another massive announcement, staking its position as the country’s biggest and most outstanding new dance event.

Joining a line up already heaving with quality, including a Scottish festival headline exclusive by dance behemoths UNDERWORLD, today’s reveal is positively gargantuan.

In an almighty electronic double whammy, two of the most iconic names in dance history are set to descend on stunning Panmure Estate in Angus this June for what will be an unmissable highlight of the entire Scottish music calendar in 2016.

LEFTFIELD have been at the cutting edge of dance music since the 1990s, releasing albums that have become some of the most influential electronic records of all time, and the most inspiring for many who followed. Landing in 1995 with Leftism, a masterpiece which remains a landmark in the genre, along with follow up Rhythm and Stealth, a seminal work which created a roadmap for the genre, LEFTFIELD created an output of quintessential dance classics. To this day, the potency of this act remains with few peers. Now the Festival of House congregation stands to bear witness to the church of Leftfield this June as originator Neil Barnes brings a gig of truly enormous mainstream-invading distinction, along with new album Alternative Light Source, the first in sixteen years.

Joining LEFTFIELD, in another stunning Scottish festival exclusive is HACIENDA CLASSICAL. For the very first time, and in a live sonic spectacle the likes of which Scotland will never have seen, the DJs who shaped the Hacienda sound – MIKE PICKERING and GRAEME PARK – will perform a continuous set of Hacienda classics alongside the 40-strong CAMERATA ORCHESTRA, with very special guest vocalists and performances. Taking the euphoria of the Hacienda’s legendary nights to a whole new level, HACIENDA CLASSICAL is a unique, innovative meeting of styles. This live fusion event will without question go down in Scottish festival history.

RUDIMENTAL do colossal drops and colossal choruses like no other. A signature which has seen the Hackney collective headline festivals with powerhouse performances, sweep up awards and dominate the top of the charts consistently since exploding on to the scene in 2013 with a Mercury Prize nomination. Their unique brand of high energy drum n bass can be heard on countless brilliant collaborations with artists including Ella Eyre, Emeli Sande, John Newman, Becki Hill and Foxes.

Named by the BBC as the festival band of the summer, RUDIMENTAL will headline Festival of House with a very special DJ set.

It is unprecedented for a DJ to hit #1 three years in a row as the Resident Advisor Top DJ in the World, but in the case of DIXON it’s not in the least surprising. Rising from the Berlin clubland, Steffen Berkhahn has a clarity of vision that sets him apart. This is what has made Innervisions, the label he founded with Ame, so distinctive from the beginning, in its sound, its artwork and its events. DIXON hasn’t just charted a path to the top but drawn a blueprint for staying there. Together with his Innervisions crew DIXON throws parties in the most unique locations around the world every weekend, creating extraordinary experiences and utterly unmistakable soundtracks. A true class act and a guaranteed highlight of the entire weekend.

JAMES ZABIELA is a technical Jedi who pushes the boundaries of DJing to its absolute limits. Despite being two decades younger than his peers he has achieved legend status thanks to his unrivalled technical abilities, winning the hearts of electronic music lovers the world over. Whether it’s for his earlier breakbeat and house style or more tech leanings, JAMES ZABIELA’s DJ set up is next level and more of a live performance, with layers of tech, lashings of loops, synths and pretty much any other pioneering gadgets of importance being deployed. A longstanding Ibiza fixture and a respected A&R exponent – his Born Electric label has signed music by artists such as Hot Chip, Midland, FaltyDL and Cloud Boat – Zabiela is in a league of his own.

These acts and many more are set to make Festival of House an incredible event.

Speaking about today’s announcement, Festival Director Craig Blyth said:

“We are delighted to be announcing these new additions who are joining the Festival of House party at Panmure Estate this summer. Everyone has been working hard behind the scenes to secure an eclectic lineup with the very highest calibre of acts. We couldn’t be happier about Leftfield, the live show is on another level, and Hacienda Classical, which we have secured as a Scottish festival exclusive, will be a ‘were you there’ moment for sure. I promise you this will be the best way to kickstart your summer; an outstanding weekend of world class dance music set on a stunning world class festival site.”

Wayne Dunbar, Director of The Rhumba Club and Festival of House Organiser echoed this saying, “For 25 years The Rhumba Club has been at the forefront of Scotland’s dance scene, bringing the biggest and most respected names to the region. There can be no better way to celebrate our landmark anniversary in 2016 than by bringing a line up of such outstanding depth and quality as today’s announcement. These artists are at the absolute top of their game and it is a great testament to our vision and the respect The Rhumba enjoys that so many international acts have embraced Festival of House. There will be no finer dance festival in the country this year and everyone is invited!”
