12 stages – 3 days and nights of fun in the fields in the beautiful Lake District

Embracing this year’s festival theme ‘Kendal Calling Goes To The Movies’ and taking it to the moon and beyond is one of the festivals best-loved areas Riot Jazz. This year, Apollo Riot Jazz is blasting off into outer space, destination: Planet Moon Dog. Riot Jazz cordially invites you to join them on this epic Sci-Fi adventure in our quest for “The Cosmic Disco”.

Riot Jazz Brass Band are the artists in residence and the hosts of this extravaganza of musical delights and quirky entertainment. The line-up has been handpicked by the Riot Jazz team. Highlights include the critically acclaimed Walk providing a veritable space odyssey in soulful, traveling rhythm ’n’ blues! Gentle Mystics a 9-piece band that performs shows of unique class, never failing to hypnotize their fans that have gained international respect for a brilliant and fresh approach that embraces all walks and styles of life. Gentle Mystics’ shows are immense, their devoted fans and their self-titled debut album has sold thousands worldwide. Plus thrown in the mix is an intergalactic booty shaking, mind-bending mix-up of heavy dub and psychedelic modal jazz, brought to you by a mischievous collective of the greatest jazz dissidents and session musician monsters from across the country Dub Jazz Sound System.

Other unmissable acts include Noon the Manchester supergroup Riot Jazz describe as “live bouncing blues music, distilled and aged in a library full of leather-bound soft-core musical pornography”, hip-hops finest The Mouse Outfit, Chains featuring the immensely talented Lauren Housley, gypsy guitar picking from Sam C Lees & The Family Band plus much more.

Riot Jazz brings an area of true escapism, it’s weird and wonderful and full of hidden musical gems to discover. Be prepared to be transported out of this world!
