LEAF is a major new city-wide event for London, showcasing its innovative heritage in electronic music.
Through a series of talks, technology masterclasses, installations, screenings, parties and performances, LEAF will explore and reclaim the legacy of London as a pioneering figure in the
global electronic music movement.
LEAF is created and curated by Bestival founder and BBC Radio 1DJ Rob da Bank, and music pioneer and International Music Summit creator Ben Turner, in partnership with SJM Concerts, the UK’s leading independent concert promoter.
The event is partnered with Point Blank – the award winning music production school based in East London, an epicentre of music and technology innovation, and a natural home for LEAF.
Celebrating the cultural significance of electronic music, LEAF will focus on how the genre has influenced visual art, film and live music.
At the central creative venue, the LEAF HUB, located at the historic Shoreditch Electric Light Station, there will be workshops, exhibitions, master-classes and talks, including the legendary Giorgio Moroder in conversation, and New Order talking about the influence of Ibiza on the recording of their 1989 Technique album.
Also at the LEAF HUB will be an exclusive event for 150 badge holders with Boiler Room, presenting Eats Everything, MK and Rob da Bank – all appearing on the platform for the very first time.
Dinos Chapman from the renowned Chapman Brothers will appear at LEAF with an AV Installation of his much celebrated music project, Luftbobler.
Featuring a series of short films made by the artist set to an electronic soundtrack composed by Chapman, the Luftbobler installation is an immersive and surreal experience not to be missed.
New BBC Radio 1 underground recruit Éclair Fifi presents a Detroit special and brings in Kevin Saunderson and Eddie ‘Flashin’ Fowlkes to guest. Saunderson will play ‘generation to generation’ with his son Dantiez – an emerging star in his own right.
Across the capital, LEAF will stage shows in some of London’s most revered live music venues and warehouse spaces including Major Lazer at Brixton Academy on 7 November, and Trentemoller at The Forum.
