All three original House of Pain members, Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal make an epic return in 2017, reuniting to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their classic track ‘Jump Around’.
House of Pain dropped this record like a grenade on a global scale in 1992 and along with other hits including ‘Shamrocks and Shenanigans’ and ‘Put on Your S**t Kickers’, this pioneering trio will be playing live in the UK for five shows as part of a worldwide tour .
It’s hard to believe that it was over 25 years ago when the rowdy Irish Americans got started, back in 1991, and from its distinctive intro, ‘Jump Around’ hasn’t aged a day. A hit that remains fresh and relevant, it’s still dropped by DJs to enthusiastic crowds and is an unstoppable hip hop anthem, just like its creators who have maintained a high profile topping the Billboard charts as a group and with solo projects. ‘Jump Around’ reached No. 3 in their native United States, No. 6 in Ireland and No. 8 in the United Kingdom and yet whilst not topping the charts it was with this infectious song and influential crossover hit that the group became worldwide superstars in 1992.
It was the turn of a new decade when House of Pain changed the face of hip hop with their self-titled debut album, reaching multi-platinum status with a confident release that boasted polished co-production from DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill and featuring guest appearances by fellow Soul Assassin affiliates, B-Real and Son Doobie (Funkdoobiest).
Following this in 1994 with Same As It Ever Was, success continued working once again with DJ Muggs and the record received critical acclaim for its powerful lyrics and dark head-nod worthy beats, and furthermore going Gold after debuting at No. 12 on the hip hop charts with minimal airplay. 1996’s third album, Truth Crushed To The Earth Shall Rise Again, saw DJ Lethal on production duties and collaborations with Guest MC’s and friends including Guru of Gangstarr, Cockni O’Dire, Divine Styler, and Brand Nubian and wordsmith Sadat X also appeared on the album, which many House of Pain fans still consider to be years ahead of its time.
Despite the hiatus, House of Pain’s members have remained loyal to their hip hop roots and Everlast recently announced the formation of a new collective with Sick Jacken and Divine Styler. The art/hip hop collective known as Warporn Industries brand new music video for ‘Dazed’, directed by Chad Marshall, can be seen in the video box.
