A series of new summer Freeze shows have just been announced as part of their 10th anniversary, as the team continue to celebrate their first stunning installment with Bonobo and Gilles Peterson’s incredible show at the Bombed Out Church.
Solomun has played a major role in redefining European house music and headlines the latest show in Freeze’s 10th anniversary summer on Saturday 18th July. His passion for DJing and stand-out sets remain an integral part of everything he does; as head of Diynamic Music, Solomun’s label was founded in 2006 and goes hand in hand with its sub-label 2DIY4, the DIY Booking agency and club called EGO.
The German electronic music scene radiates from Hamburg through the label’s family of producers, remixers and DJs, three stars of which are joining Solomun – Stimming, Magdalena and Thyladomid. This promises to be another huge event as part of the run of shows taking place at the Bombed Out Church.
Freeze is also proud to announce its involvement in bringing two of the world’s leading techno artists to the city. The 48 Hours In Liverpool launch party brings Nina Kraviz to the city, one of the world’s best architects of pulsating, bouncy and seismic sounds which will have the New Bird Street Warehouse rocking on Saturday 30th May. Nina is joined by Fuse boss Enzo Siragusa, mUmU resident Lee Rands and Freeze’s own Jemmy. The 48 Hours In Liverpool August bank holiday event has already announced Tale of Us, with many more names to come.
Then the following weekend, seminal techno titan Ben Klock touches down for a blistering blast of bass-heavy beats, as the resident of arguably the world’s best club, Berghain, lays down a music masterclass. Taking place at The Garage, these two back-to-back weekend shows showcase not only two of techno’s most important leaders but also two of Liverpool’s most iconic venues, a pared down back to basics approach focusing on the music, the venue and the crowd as one.
Tickets are still available for Sunday 24th May at the Bombed Out Church, which sees Crazy P making a very welcome return to Liverpool as their latest album, Walk Talk Dance Sing, is released. Support comes from Tensnake, Ewan Pearson, Psychemagik and Weval. The other opening 10th anniversary shows sold out in record time, with tickets flying out in a matter of hours.
Freeze has grown in tandem with the city’s continued resurgence, charting their unique course across the vibrant electronic music spectrum. With its DNA all about seeking the region’s most intimate, quirky and stunning venues – including everywhere from the Anglican Cathedral and St George’s Hall to tunnels and warehouses – 2015 sees the party entering a truly exciting phase, approaching a forward-thinking and taste-making artist policy whilst still retaining the foundations upon which it is built.
