The glorious weather definitely exceeded our expectations of the first day of Wakestock festival and we were sure to have our sun cream and bottled water at the ready.

Hordes of festival-goers assembled into the main Wakestock arena to catch a glimpse of some of their favourite bands and it was a night that will never be forgotten.

We spoke to up-and-coming indie band Forever Kings who, having only performed together for two months, have already accomplished their goal of playing their first festival.

The Welsh lads were named BBC Introducing Band of the Week in Wales, so it’s understandable that big things are predicted for the band.

Founder of the group, frontman Byrn Williams said: “We’d love to be playing major festivals like Glastonbury in the next couple of years.

“We aspire to make it big and expand our fan base.

“We want to be supporting big names and touring worldwide – that would be amazing for us but at the moment, we have gigs lined up in London this week and we are packed out until the end of August with gigs, which is exciting”

Sipping their beers and celebrating their first festival victory, guitarist Huw Parry added: “We are emotive stadium indie, like a windswept U2 meets Snow Patrol sound.

“Our EP is hopefully going to be released within the next few months, which is a great achievement for us, so watch this space.”
