Last Friday and Saturday, the Liverpool Cathedral boomed with not only the original Cream generation, but with new cohort of ravers who experienced a unique night at Cream Classical Live.
Opening the show to celebrate Cream’s 25th anniversary was the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Roz Gladden who proudly presented a civic honour to one of the world’s renowned companies in the electronic music industry, and to its founder, James Barton.
Cream itself was awarded the Freedom of Liverpool award to recognise its impeccable contribution to the event and music industry, whilst James Barton was made a Citizen of Honour for his outstanding contribution to the city and the world.
James Barton said: “This is a huge honour for me and for Cream, what started off as a small club night back in October 1992, we could never have dreamt the journey it would take us on and what a journeys it’s been.
“We are proud in the role that Cream played in the rebirth of the city during the 90’s.
“There is no better city in the world and we’re proud to call this our home, thank you Liverpool.”
And the night began…
Sixty of the finest musicians from Cream’s Philharmonic Orchestra ascended to the back of the Cathedral, whilst 1600 people stood ready for this unique experience.
K-Klass, an iconic electronic duo, helped set the playlist for the event, with tracks being played from across the 90s, such as Children (Robert Miles), Insomnia (Faithless) and Finally (CeCe Peniston).
It was definitely a night to remember: strobe lights, fluorescent surroundings, and an immense musical composition brought together a community, as they reminisced the Cream Club days and danced the night away.
The Cream Philharmonic Orchestra transformed some of the best dance classics persistently for 90 minutes, and were accompanied by an angelic choir in the heights of the glorious cathedral.
And so the party continued over at the Liverpool O2 Academy where various artists, music producers and DJs brought the Cream Club alive once again with the likes of K-Klass, Tall Paul and Seb Fontaine performing.
But it doesn’t stop there!
This year, Cream will also be commemorating the 20th year of Creamfields in Daresbury this August Bank Holiday, with an exceptional lineup of artists.
Attendees will be seeing the likes of Axwell and Ingrosso, Eric Prydz, Daft Punk’s DJ set and Martin Garrix for the four-day festival.
