With the confirmation of rules being relaxed the great news is that Bloodstock 2021 is finally a GO, allowing a family of metal fans to return home and celebrate together after a horrible 18 months.
This is also probably your last chance to secure tickets for the metal party of the year as tickets are flying out of the door and it’s likely to sell out before it begins in just 4 weeks.
There have also understandably been a few more line-up changes due to travel restrictions and some bands pulling out due to personnel changes. So, with Dark Tranquility unable to play, Liverpool’s Loathe take their place on the main stage.
Frontman Erik Bickerstaff tells us, “We are thrilled to be performing at this year’s BLOODSTOCK Festival for the first time, and to be sharing the Main Stage on August 13th alongside an incredible and eclectic line-up of heavy artists.”
The incredible While She Sleeps have been drafted in to cover Bury Tomorrow’s place and they are guaranteed to set things off on the Saturday main stage slot having already done so at the Download Pilot festival in June. Bury Tomorrow have promised they’ll be back for Bloodstock next year.
Other replacements are the excellent Black Spiders for Unleash the Archers and death metal bruisers Foetal Juice for the now defunct Lotus Eater. Expect a full-on kick in the nuts blow out set from both. There’s even a guest appearance from the legendary Brian Blessed to look forward to as well, and we’re guessing he won’t even need a microphone to be heard.
This year’s Metal 2 The Masses scheme that discovers new bands and showcases them with a slot on the New Blood Stage played out in a rather different landscape to the norm, with an array of logistical issues, but the team still managed to crown winners from around the UK.
Extreme metal 5-piece, TERMINAL SUN who won the Sheffield competition, Essex victors, death metal squad BEYOND EXTINCTION, Somerset’s champs melodic alt metallers, SAIL, Manchester’s tech thrashers BEYOND SALVATION, and SEVERENTH all land slots on the Friday.
Snagging slots on Saturday’s New Blood stage are Hitchin’s stoner/grunge winners, BLACK ATLAS, Norwich sludgers A HORSE CALLED WAR, blackened death trio ASCARIS, groove metal squad DESOLATION, and London’s victors HAWXX are also the winners of PRS’s Women Make Music award!
