Using his Groundhog Day style powers to help craft the perfect party, Bill Murray was once hailed a hero after stopping police from breaking up a boozy student bash.
The Lost In Translation star knocked back spirits as he belted out folk songs at a house in Glasgow back in summer of 2019 whilst relaxing during down time at a gold tournament.
But officers who arrived in the early hours after neighbours complained about the noise, were persuaded to leave by Bill.
Musician Hugh Kelly, who invited the golf mad movie icon back to his gaff after they drank together at a gig said: “I ended up playing a gig in St Andrews, where Bill Murray turned up.
“He started drinking with us and we managed to get him back to our afterwards.
“Just before the police arrived to shut the party down, him and I sang a tune together.
“[When police arrived] Bill stood up and just stared at them.
“Then the police were like, ‘Oh, sorry guys, just keep it down a bit. Have a good night.’”
Murray was said to have ‘stared’ at the police before they turned away without taking further action
Hugh said that after the police left, the 69-year-old actor told revellers: “I don’t fear the police, but I do respect their power.”
Earlier, they sang traditional tune Loch Lomond together as the movie star sipped a rum and coke.
Bill was staying in Scotland for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, Fife.
