The final seven episodes of Mad Men will air this spring, it was announced that the next epsidoe will be shows on April 5th, 2015, about a full calendar year since the first half of Season 7 premiered.

There’s just seven weeks to tie up all the storylines involving the now infamous womanising alcoholic Don Draper and his family, Peggy Olson, Pete Campbell, Roger Sterling, Joan Harris and the most influencial character of all – the 1960s.

Matthew Weiner said: “Now that it’s over, I’m very excited that it’s not over.

“It’s going to be weird to get to the point where there’s no new episodes.”

“I welcomed the network’s decision to split the final season as opportunity to treat it thematically.

“April’s first episode will feel like a “premiere” and each of the finale episodes “feels like the finale of the show.”

“When you read them it’s like ‘Wow, what’s going to be next week?”

Fans only have a matter of months to wait now, but some will already be dreading the moment when the clock finally ticks over from 1969 to 1970 and a huge chunk of our television watching, covering a fascinating cast of characters, in one of the most important and tumultuous decades in American history, will be at an end.

Let’s just hope Don Draper doesn’t really jump out the window at the end – otherwise, the biggest spoiler of all time has been evident in the opening credits since episode 1.
