Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has told how her parents sat through filming of her being raped in the new series, when they came to see her on set.

Sophie has won an army of fans with her performance as Sansa Stark in the hit series, but her parents got more than they bargained for when they came to see the glamour of a TV show at work.

The teenager’s parents were invited to see what goes down behind the scenes, but planned their field trip on a rather unfortunate day of shooting and ended up witnessing their daughter being raped.

Her parents where placed between the show’s producer Dan Weiss to overlook the capturing of the scene, with her parents seeming more comfortable than him.

Sophie, 18 said: “The producer, Dan Weiss, was sitting between my Mum and Dad, going ‘Oh my God’. But they were like ‘It’s fine, she loves this kind of thing.’”

Whether they were referring to the attention, the filming or the awkward situation is unknown. We are assuming it was not the rape.

Sansa Stark is put through her fair share of awful experiences throughout the show’s run, none of them especially glamorous.

But, perhaps slightly frightened by the appearance of Sophie’s parents and the looming thought of their shock and rage – the director of the scene had assured the actress that the rape scene would be “beautiful” and “choreographed like a ballet.”

Surely that put her parents at ease.

Game of Thrones Series 4 will premiere in the UK on April 7 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
