Quentin Tarantino has confirmed rumours that “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” will go into production.
“The Whole Bloody Affair” is set to be a longer cut of the original two-part martial arts epic, with the notable inclusion of a 30 minute anime segment.
Three years ago The Whole Bloody Affair was screened at the New Beverly cinema in Los Angeles, but since then there has been little mention of it.
Tarantino was at last weekends Comic-Con to promote his new “Django Unchained”/”Zorro” crossover comic.
When asked about The Whole Bloody Affair, he said: “Back when Kill Bill was going to be one movie, I wrote an even longer anime sequence. So you see in the movie O-Ren kills her boss but then there was that long haired guy… The big sequence was her fighting that guy.”
Japanese anime studio Production I.G. were unable to finish the full animation in time for the films release.
Tarantino added: “It was my favourite part but it was the part you could drop. So we dropped it and then later when I.G. heard we were talking about doing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair they still had the script so without even being commissioned they just did it and paid for it themselves.”
This news was greeted with delight from his avid fans.
The 51 year old said: “Anyway, The Weinstein Company and myself were talking about actually coming out with it sometime, not before the year is out, but within the next year with limited theatrical engagement as well.”
With “The Hateful Eight” due to go into production early next year as well, it seems as though Quentin fans have got at least two of the directors works to look forward to next year.
