Pulp Fiction mastermind Quentin Tarantino has described himself as a tough taskmaster and told how he puts his actors through their paces during rehearsals to ensure they’re up to the job.
Quentin said any thespian who turns up to rehearsal without a pen to make notes aren’t worthy of playing one of his characters.
The Django Unchained writer-director is famous for his masterful use of dialogue and character interplay and says that he is constantly judging the actors’ commitment before shooting starts.
Inglourious Basterds star Diane Kruger recently told the New York Post that Tarantino fired a thespian for not taking a pen to rehearsal.
Quentin said: “Any actor who shows up at rehearsal without a pen to make notes in their script isn’t professional enough to either be in my movie, or worthy enough to be trusted with one of my characters.
“That’s actually a big part of rehearsal: to test the actors, and if they’re not up to snuff, get rid of them.
“It’s my job, making sure I’ve picked the right people.”
