Cinemacity is a new film that will be written, staged, acted, shot and edited collaboratively with the people of Liverpool until 25 August and will premiere at FACT in early October 2013.
Caspar Stracke and Gabriela Monroy are two New York based artists and filmmakers, originally from Germany and Mexico, in residence at FACT for the summer as part of the European Media Art Network Exchange (EMARE) programme.
People of all ages are invited to share their true stories of amazing coincidences, miraculous moments, funny situations, losses, gains, new experiences, and moments that are so unreal they could have been pulled straight from a movie.
Selected stories will become scenes in the new collage-style film and the storyteller will be invited to become involved in the filming process and even act in their own scene.
They can also choose to leave it up to the artists to interpret their story for them.
All segments will be shot in Liverpool and wherever possible at the specific locations where the original stories were situated.
Stories are being accepted now and filming will be happening in Liverpool up until 25 August when the open call closes. The story or storyteller must have a connection to Liverpool.

The film will premiere at FACT on Saturday 5 October at 12pm as part of the Abandon Normal Devices 2013 festival. Participants will be invited to the premiere and their names will appear on the credits.
Artist Gabriela Monroy said “FACT is the ideal place to do this project as it’s one of the few places in the world that has an arts centre and a commercial cinema under the same roof. There are a lot of great storytellers in Liverpool and we’re looking forward to hearing from them.”
FACT’s Director Mike Stubbs said: “Through being the location for numerous blockbusters, inspiring great films like Of Time and the Cityand having a thriving film community, Liverpool is a true cinema city.
“It’s always exciting to have artists in residence at FACT, especially when they are as passonate about Liverpool and its stories as Gabriela and Caspar are.”
