So as the year comes to an end, the AFI have released their eagerly anticipated Top 10 Films of 2013 list.
The year has brought us numerous movies that will take some beating, but which ones missed out on hitting that top 10?
The experts at AFI named some titles that we were certain wouldn’t miss out on recognition, films such as Gravity, Captain Phillips and the eagerly anticipated American Hustle.
Russell (the man who brought us Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter), and sporting a quite simply faultless A-List line-up.
But in a year with so many great releases, it is inevitable that some are bound to be overlooked.
Noticeably, Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners missed out on a well-deserved spot, along with the likes of Rush, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
Others that made the cut were Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave (expectedly), Nebraska, Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks – proving to us all that Tom Hanks has still got it.
On the final list were: 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Fruitvale Station, Gravity, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska, Saving Mr Banks and The Wolf of Wall Street.
As 2014 looms, actors and directors alike have set some high standards to beat.
The AFI also released their Top 10 TV Shows list, with The Americans, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, House of Cards, Mad Men, Masters of Sex, Orange is the New Blac, Scandal and Veep all making the cut.
