One place everyone must visit in Liverpool is, of course, the Albert Dock. First opened in July 1846, it has continuously been a place where tourists and locals flock to take in the history and culture of one of England’s spectacular cities. It is even a popular spot for lunch, or an ice cream, overlooking the waterfront.
Before the Albert Dock was originally built to shelter sailing boats, it was used for industrial purposes.
However it now holds popular attractions such as many restaurants, hotels, award winning museums and the Wheel of Liverpool. Fans of The Beatles from all over the world take to the city to experience the musical heritage of Liverpool.
The Beatles Story museum illustrates the incredible journey of four males who helped shape the world of music. The Magical Mystery Tour is popular among tourists as they are treated to a fun and engaging tour of the Beatles history throughout Liverpool.
Not only is the Albert Dock sensational for a family day out but it is also used to help sports and clubs at university such as the Liverpool John Moores University rowing society. Young rowers take on the River Mersey to practice the sport.
You are never short of finding something to do here either with many events being held. Festivals and displays are commonly held here at the Docks, popular with locals and those not typically from the city. Artists and comedians also travel to perform and put on a show at the Echo Arena.
A new rum festival is also to be launched in various bars and restaurants at the Albert Dock.
Glen, a student studying Architecture at University of Liverpool, states that “The Albert Dock is definitely a recommended place to visit with its combination of historical context and scenic views. It is a favourite place of mine to visit in the summer.”
With popular areas surrounding the Albert Dock such as Liverpool One, the Echo Arena, and overlooking the River Mersey, it is definitely a place to put on your bucket list.
