Bukhara is a well known Indian restaurant in Samlesbury, Preston in Lancashire, established for around 11 years, it’s always bustling with customers.

Successful enough to open a new establishment, Rumi by Bukhara recently opened in Liverpool, I had the pleasure of dining there this past week and they’ve easily replicated the charm that surrounds the Preston eatery to this city.

It’s a brilliant cafe during the day, in the evening however, it’s more of a fine dining establishment. This place is more than fine though, everything is incredible. The service is the perfect kind of attentive, you’re certainly made to feel comfortable and nicely ensconced in the restaurant.

My dining partner and I asked for clarification on the heat levels of the food (mild, medium and hot) and were expertly explained that the food was not as hot as other places can be due to the level of foreign people that dine in this new restaurant. I found this not only comforting, as I’m not a fan of spicy food, but also highly considerate and adaptable to their customer base.

This is putting customers needs first, which is key to a great business, adding a delightful touch to the overall dining experience.

We also asked what the specials were, and they were politely described, I went with the starter of king prawns marinated in a spicy creamy mustard sauce cooked on a charcoal grill. It’s not hard to see why they’re included in the specials, the prawns were beautifully presented, they tasted really lovely, the sauce wasn’t overpowering at all, a perfect starter. It was hard to choose though as everything sounded amazing.

As for my main, I had lamb cooked with fresh onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, spices, fresh cream and coconut milk with a side of pilau rice. I can’t fault this either, the dishes the food were served in were just as lovely as the food itself, the lamb was nice and soft, the right amount of tender, all of the ingredients complimented each other wonderfully. The portion size is also to be complimented.

I personally can’t say enough nice things about this place, the food was divine and phenomenally presented (also important) the atmosphere in the restaurant was the perfect combination of casual and elegance.

It’s certainly a place that warrants multiple visits.

Rumi by Bukhara is highly recommended if you’re wanting a marvellous evening to enjoy a brilliant customer experience and excellent Indian food.
