Here are some of the major talking points in this edition of The Week in Gaming.
Monday 27th July
Hori and Sony have entered a partnership to create a wired keyboard/ mouse controller. Titled Tactical Assault Commander 4, or TAC4, the aim is to replicate first-person shooter style PC gaming on PS4/3 meaning; WASD for movement and precision aiming with a mouse. It is due for release 8 October 2015 costing under £87.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has a long affiliation with WWE which is set to continue as 2K announced Schwarzenegger’s most famous character The Terminator will be playable in the upcoming WWE 2K16 via a pre-order bonus.
Tuesday 28th July
In other 2K news Mafia III will be unveiled at next month’s Gamescon. The reveal will take place on Mafia III YouTube channel at 1pm, 5th August.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s final DLC, Reckoning, will be released 4th August on Xbox One. Playstation and PC versions follow 30 days later. The pack will include; four new maps, across various locations, that will utilise the campaign grappling ability and Descent the final instalment of the Exo Zombie series.
Descent introduces the new Trident Reflected Energy Weapon as well as the voice acting talents of; Bruce Campbell, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan and Jon Bernthal.
Wednesday 29th July
Techland has announced The following a new expansion to Dying Light. The update will feature a new map, as large as previous Dying Light maps combined, and include new mechanics as well as plot.
Details are currently limited though a full, public reveal is due shortly after Gamescon.
Season Pass holders will receive The Following for free; others will have to purchase it for an unconfirmed price.
Just Dance 2016 demo is now available on PS4, Xbox One and Wii U. This is the first title in the series to operate a wannabe dancer’s phone as a controller. To do so the demo must first be downloaded followed by the official Just Dance Controller App for Android, Apple and Windows phones.
However the app requires a device that is as current as an iPhone 5 or Android 4.1 device.
Thursday 30th July
Publisher 505 Games has announced Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is heading to Xbox One and PS4 12th August. The game will also see a retail release 1st September in North America and three days later in Europe.
Capcom have admitted to noticing the production of Resident Evil 2: Reborn, the fan-made remake, and rather than shut it down they have instead asked fans, via Facebook, for their “frank and honest” opinions about it. Unsurprisingly almost all responses have either been positive or call for Capcom to create an official remake.
Friday 31st July
Continuing with zombie related gaming news, Ubisoft have confirmed Zombie U, the WiiU launch title, will move to PS4 and Xbox One. Simply called Zombi the port will be a digital download and gamers should expect alterations. One of the most notable differences is more melee weapons.
ZombieU restricted players to just a cricket bat where as Zombi will feature two new melee weapons; a nail bat and a shovel. Also the flashlight will be altered with the option to switch to a further-reaching beam at the expense of battery life. It will also take a full 30 seconds to recharge meaning usage will be more tactical.
Further additions include; the mini-map relocated to a corner of the main screen, the inventory selection now also on the tv which, like the original, will not pause the game.
DICE has detailed its upcoming Blast Mode for Star Wars: Battlefront. The mode will be a 10 vs 10 team-based competition, concluding when either a team reaches 100 kills or the 10-minute time limit expires.
Maps will be smaller and won’t contain any vehicles, heroes or villains. Weapon pick-ups exist but are scarce.
