On Saturday 3rd June, Open Eye Gallery will host Zine and Photobook Fair 2017, a celebration of independent publishing.

Mann Island’s Atrium – the open space outside Open Eye Gallery – will be filled with stalls of photobooks, zines and small prints, showcasing established and up-and coming photographers, artists, and designers from across the North.

Zine and Photobook fair 2017 is free to attend, and will run from 11AM-6PM. There will be stalls with independent publications to browse and buy, and workshops throughout the day.

The first workshop will involve DIY pinhole camera making, using wooden kits designed by Liverpool-based Chris Huffee and manufactured at DoES, a makers’ space in the city. Another will give publishers and photographers the opportunity to receive feedback on photobooks and zines from Richard Page, programme leader of Manchester Metropolitan University’s BA (Hons) Photography course.

Many regional publishers will be presenting their works on the day in person, including Fistful of Books, Carbon Copy Press, Manchester’s Gravy Magazine and many more self-start photography zines.

Visitors are invited to browse photobooks from both established and up-and- coming artists, with the chance to purchase limited editions. The Zine and Photobook Fair will also be an opportunity for people to meet and foster collaborations with local photographers, artists and self-start photobook publishers.

Open Eye Gallery’s Zine and Photobook Fair 2017 is a free, public event taking place on Saturday 3rd June in Mann Island Atrium, the space outside Open Eye Gallery. Further details of the event can be found
