The rulebook is about to be completely rewritten.
Superlekka, a groundbreaking, world-first competitive socialising concept designed for the “armchair Olympian” is coming to Liverpool this autumn. Superlekka will immerse players in a retro sports stadium setting with a series of interactive games creating a ‘Game Show Olympics.’
This new venue will feature cutting-edge RFID technology with the nostalgic, high-stakes thrill of legendary game shows, this is like nothing that has come before.
Superlekka is the brainchild of Kip Piper, former creative director and co-founder of the successful nationwide concept Golf Fang. Bringing over a decade of experience reshaping the UK’s entertainment landscape, Piper’s latest venture is propelled by a £2 million investment and is co-funded alongside Daniel Gillbanks and David Scowcroft, the visionary founders of the hugely successful PINS Social Club. This new venture will create 30 new jobs in the local area.
“Superlekka is a true ‘games for the people”, Piper explains. “The events are designed to bring people together, creating a fun competition where every player has a genuine chance to be crowned the ‘Champ.’ I wanted to create a place to enjoy the energy that comes from playing games and I really can’t wait to get people through the doors to experience that”
Each event is designed to be fun and intuitive, meaning there’s absolutely no athletic prowess needed and zero skill required. Across the meticulously crafted events, the games test a variety of completely different skill sets, ranging from hand-eye coordination to general knowledge.
“Whether stepping up for a round of giant beer pong, standing behind the podium of a quiz show, or tackling a frantic, ‘Supermarket Sweep’-style event, the sheer variety levels the playing field and guarantees everyone will be good at something,” Piper adds
“We are delighted to be backing such a creative, vibrant, and innovative concept,” says PINS co-founder Daniel Gillbanks. “The dedication to detail in creating a fully immersive stadium environment is what truly sets it apart. By creating such a unique space with live digital technology, Superlekka won’t just elevate competitive socialising, it’s defining the entirely new category of sportstainment.”
Located in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, the sprawling venue will be transformed into a highly stylised retro stadium with a deadpan commitment to this aesthetic serving as the ultimate punchline, providing an arena for ‘seriously unserious’ gameplay.
Following 12 months of dedicated R&D and rigorous prototyping alongside specialist tech innovators, Superlekka has engineered its own proprietary ‘digital spine.’ The team has built a custom, highly responsive ecosystem entirely from scratch to pioneer an experience unlike anything else on the market. This seamless technology merges the individual events into one unified competition with fully automated scoring. By delivering this completely frictionless journey, players simply tap their RFID wristbands to instantly register their gameplay on real-time leaderboards, ensuring they can concentrate on the important bit, having fun.
Stepping beyond the digital leaderboards, while Superlekka is incredibly proud of its expertly curated cocktail menu and extensive beer selection, the team also recognises a significant shift in how people choose to spend their time. With a noticeable move away from traditional mid-week drinking habits, it was vital to create a highly flexible space that caters to everyone. This is exactly why securing a venue with dedicated guest car parking was so important, and a key reason behind the partnership with local cult-favourites West Coast Coffee. The massive, welcoming central bar is open to everyone; whether guests are driving in for a spontaneous Tuesday date night over iced coffees, or joining a massive weekend gathering with pints in hand, you don’t need to be playing the games to soak up the stadium atmosphere.
Upon its initial launch, Superlekka will operate as an exclusively over-18s destination, establishing itself as the city’s ultimate playground for adults. However, the vision rapidly expands this Christmas with the highly anticipated introduction of ‘Superlekka Juniors.’ By launching dedicated family tickets, the venue will open its doors to players aged 13 and upwards during specific daytime sessions. Operating with a dynamic day-to-night rhythm, Superlekker will welcome families to compete throughout the day before seamlessly transitioning back into an exclusively adults-only venue in the evenings, ensuring there is an unforgettable experience for everyone.
