One the North West’s fastest growing leisure companies have acquired Otterspool Adventure Centre as part of ongoing portfolio expansion.

Velocity Leisure, which operates two Velocity Trampoline Parks across Widnes and Wigan, with a third venue opening in Speke in late 2017, alongside children’s soft play venues Funtown and Spaceworld, has taken over the outdoor activity centre in a bid to ‘complement its current indoor offering’.

Ahead of major alteration plans, the South Liverpool based adventure haven is currently home to one of Europe’s largest aerial assault courses and features a multitude of high-adrenaline activities including high ropes, climbing, abseiling, maze and a Powerfan jump to name a few.

Managing Director of Velocity Leisure Steven Cosgrove said: “Having established a leisure brand that caters for all ages, our portfolio focuses predominantly on indoor activities – these being soft play fun for tots, trampolining, climbing walls and Ninja Warrior assault courses for children and teens, without forgetting our novel exercise classes for adults. With that in mind, we wanted to further extend our broad spectrum of fun for all the family and introduce a unique taste of the great outdoors.

“Using our extensive experience within the leisure industry, our takeover at Otterspool Adventure Centre will go on to add a new dimension to the adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities that have been tailored to entertain and challenge. In line with our major alternation plans to expand the venue’s current offerings, we are set to lower the current price of the high ropes to make them more attractive to our visitors whether they be new or existing. The overall aim is to offer an alternative outdoor space for youngsters and adults to keep active and healthy, all the while having fun.”

Since the establishment of the first venue in 2010, owners and husband and wife duo Steven and Cheryl Cosgrove have developed a diverse series of niche entertainment venues spanning across the North West. Following the takeover of Otterspool Adventure Centre, the leading leisure group now employs more than 200 staff members across the six sites and is looking to make further company acquisitions in late 2017/2018.

Steven added: “While the majority of our venues are based in out of town locations such a retail parks and industrial estates, Otterspool Adventure Centre offers a refreshing new idyllic setting. Again, situated just outside of the hustle and bustle, the highly accessible venue located on Otterspool’s iconic promenade makes for the perfect day out pre or post stroll.

“As part of the adventure park’s holistic approach, the venue is also home to a soft play area and bouncy village, which are suited to our mini visitors. What’s more, mums and dads can sit back and relax in our in-house eatery Otters Café as they while away the day and take in the impressive riverside views.”
