Purple Revolver’s ultimate office Christmas party guide is here to help you out, if you’re still looking to do something fun and different with your workmates than get drunk at your desk again! Is your photocopier still broken from bum ideas last year? Fear ye not – get in the festive mood with these offbeat events.
Yes! If you’re tired of the same old same old, a bite to eat followed by getting sloshed in a bar and then facing the fear of dancing cheek to cheek with the office geek, then here’s our handy list of some cool things to do…
1. Bongo’s Bingo Liverpool presents Bongo & the Beanstalk, Camp and Furnace
Bongo’s Bingo has taken Liverpool by storm. Not your average bingo, Jonny Bongo and his hilarious team will be giving panto a 21st century revamp this Christmas. Expect outrageous outfits, hysterical jokes, and we can guarantee that you’ll all be dancing on the table by the end of the night.
2. SOUL BEATS Liquor & Eats at Miyagi, Bold Street
‘Mr M got soul…and he superbad’
Mr Miyagi presents a new, late night music lounge every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9.30pm until 2am. Described by the venue itself as Liverpool’s ‘New Power Soul Club’, head down to Miyagi, the former Café Berlin site, for soul, food and cocktails. In the 1980s, this was a notorious hang out for Liverpool’s new wave musicians and northern soul lovers. Taking it back to its roots, director Alex Hannah explains: ‘We wanted to recreate some of those magical soul nights, but also we are keen to give it a modern edge by adding our own Miyagi twist. Which is why we have launched a new late night small plate menu and some bespoke cocktails.’
Miyagi also has a new Christmas menu which you can view here: www.mister-miyagi.co.uk/assets/files/christmas-menu-2016.pdf
3. Scouse of the Rising Sun, Royal Court Liverpool
Scouse Panto is back, and with even more gags, more songs and more silliness, you’ll be laughing and singing along the whole show. Head down to the Court for the holiday of a lifetime as you will be following the gang to the Far East in search of a Great Wall (and a very good window). On the way they’ll find plenty to keep them (and you) entertained. With tickets starting from just £13, don’t miss out! It’s not Christmas until you’ve been to panto!
4. Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival, Liverpool 1 Ice
Skating is not only for the kids, and Liverpool’s open air ice rink is the perfect destination for some wintery fun. Grab your skates! Why stop there, when you can continue your office party onto the UK’s largest ever real ice slide. Take in the whole view of the Ice Festival (it’s prettiest in the evening!) 6m above the park, on three speedy 30m runs. An office party wouldn’t be an office party without a tipple or two, so finish your night in the minus 3 degrees Ice Bar, enjoying an ice cold shot. You will be surrounded by glittering crystal clear ice sculptures and furniture. With the session lasting 25 minutes, make sure you wrap up warm!
5. Breakout Liverpool: Live Escape Room Game, Sir Thomas Street
It may not scream Christmas, but this unique experience is one you will not forget in a hurry. Breakout is a live escape room game where you are locked in a room for an hour and have to solve a series of puzzles and mysteries to escape. You will have to search high and low for clues and work together if you want to escape, and you only have 60 minutes to do so. Why not pop down to The Kazimier Garden afterwards for a well-deserved mulled wine!
Merry Christmas everyone, have a ball!
