The UK’s first and Liverpool’s only dry bar The Brink has marked its milestone fifth birthday with a duo of celebrations.

Kick starting the merriments was a daytime celebration, which welcomed guest speakers to the stage including Lord Mayor Cllr Roz Gladden, Cllr Gary Millar and Public Health Commissioning Manager Susan O’Looney; together with individual members of the recovery community.

In a bid to honour the efforts of its staff, related recovery organisations and group leaders, the moving event shined light on the inspirational journeys and positive life transformations that have been enabled within the five year period.

General Manager of The Brink Carl Bell said: “As Action on Addiction’s flagship café bar, we’re thrilled to have marked this rewarding milestone with everyone that has made The Brink what it is today. Throughout the past five years, many people have achieved sustained recovery and enriched their lives through the programs and services that we provide, so it’s a great time to reflect and congratulate them on their successes.

“Thanks to our incredible staff, volunteers, partners and clients alongside invaluable funding from Public Health, Big Lottery and Action on Addiction to name a few, we have been able to continue to deliver recovery and wellbeing through a series of innovative activities and workshops.”

To conclude the duo of celebrations, a public party was also held, whereby members of the recovery community and friends of The Brink alike enjoyed food, live music performances and karaoke.

Carl added: “Here at The Brink we aim to lead the way in promoting awareness by combining fresh healthy food and wellbeing events, whilst acting as a haven for those in recovery.

“We’re proud to be a beacon in the North West for those struggling with an addition or affected by someone who is, and look forward to our upcoming years of enriching the community through our services.”
