Internationally acclaimed rock icon Melissa Auf der Maur’s new and adventurous multimedia concept OOOM (Out Of Our Minds) is set to take over your ears, eyes and mind in t-minus ten…nine…eight…

The OOOM project indulges creatively into audio, visual, print and film; with a new solo album (released May 3rd), short film, comic book, live performances and gallery presentations.

Perhaps the most essential part of the OOOM concept is the 28-minute film, which as well as being the brainchild of Auf der Maur, also stars her under the direction of Tony stone (Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America) and was shot in solar powered HD.

The film has already gained widespread critical praise following screenings at both the Sundance Film Festival and World Con’s 67th Annual Sci-Fi Convention.

Released through the rock/metal machine Roadrunner Records the Out Of Our Minds album is the follow up to Auf der Maur’s self-titled debut in 2004 and sees her collaborating with such producers and mixing desk maestros as Chris Goss (QOTSA, UNKLE), Alan Moulder (Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins) Mike Frazer (AC/DC, Franz Ferdinand) and Jordon Zadorozny (Sam Roberts).

And that’s not all folks. Brooklyn artist Jack Forbes also throws his skills into the mix, providing illustrations for the limited edition 12 page OOOM comic book and picture disk.

The former Hole songwriter and Smashing Pumpkins (farewell tour) bassist explains “OOOM began as a song. It was mid first decade of the 21st century and technology had just begun to dismantle the music business towers.

It was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me. The landscape changed and i began to morph my roots into visual arts with the music.

Describing the concept Auf der Maur continues “The many portals of OOOM invite listeners and viewers to discover on their own, at their own pace and in their own space.

If you’re listening, Come in…”
