RizLab has announced its third project this year with Ghostpoet and The D.O.T., Mike Skinner’s new band.

Over the course of the last year, Ghostpoet has quietly and quickly become recognised as one of the most exciting new artists in the UK.

His laconic flow, razor‐sharp lyrical observations and a raw yet melodic approach to beat‐making led to a Mercury nomination for his debut album Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings and an army of fans, including Mike Skinner.

RizLab have had an amazing 2011, creating an audio‐visual experience with Jamie xx and Quayola, and a collaborative dance music experiment live at Bestival with Friendly Fires.

For Project 3, RizLab approached Ghostpoet, an MC known for his leftfield, experimental creativity, and invited him to create a RizLab project of his own.

Mike Skinner’s admiration for Ghostpoet’s work brought them into the studio together to work
on some demos.

Following RizLab’s approach, Ghostpoet and The D.O.T. went back into the studio and created the track Trouble ‐ a synth‐heavy, up‐tempo beat from Mike that features Ghostpoet’s trademark lethargic rhymes and Rob Harvey’s distinctive vocals on the chorus.

With the track complete, the next step is the video. Ghostpoet has already created spectacular
videos for ‘Liiines’ and ‘Survive It’, while Mike Skinner has long been known for his self‐directed videos. Given both their musicl pedigree, RizLab is expecting something truly off the wall.

RizLab is a project created to allow credible, pioneering artists to freely experiment and embrace their creative passions. Launched to create interesting and innovative music experiences, RizLab embodies the new and the unexpected.
