To celebrate the 21st birthday of the cult sitcom Bottom and the news that Richie and Eddie are to be reunited in a new BBC2 series, Purple Revolver invite fans to a unique one-off party “Bottom’s Up” at The Oxford pub, Kentish Town, London.
Created by national treasures Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson, the show followed the hopeless duo Richard Richard and Edward Elizabeth Hitler as they eked out a grotty existence in their Hammersmith bedsit desperate to meet some ‘cracking birds’ while remaining destined to hit one another with frying pans for all eternity.
The night will include a screenings of favourite episodes as voted by fans, a themed pub quiz filled with Bottom trivia that will give fans chance to prove they know their Hob Nobs from their Sunday Fish Finger, followed by a very special prize raffle.
Since Rik Mayall sustained a serious head injury during a quad bike accident in 1998, the event will see proceeds donated to Headway – the brain injury association (registered charity no. 1025852).
Rachel Broughton, Fundraising Manager from Headway said: “We are very grateful to be supported by such a fantastic event ‘Bottom’s Up’ and are delighted it will also raise awareness of our vital services to brain injury survivors, their families and carers. Many thanks to all involved for your valuable support of Headway and we hope you have a brilliant night.”
Purple Revolver’s Bottom’s Up event co-ordinator Angela Johnson said: “It’s hard to believe that Bottom celebrates its 21st year since broadcast this September.
“Last month we heard that Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson are writing together again.
“After such a long hiatus the return of Bottom to our TV screens is something Rik and Ade fans never thought impossible.
“We’re inviting fans of the most desperate duo in the history of sitcom to come along and raise a pint to their heroes coming of age.
“Along with the Bottom themed pub quiz there’ll be some fantastic prizes to be won in the raffle.
“Lads, get your bottles of Pheromone and spray liberally. Birds, get your smashing blouses on! Prepare to strike up an argument over your slate with Dick Head, this is going to be a LOCK IN to remember.”
Tickets cost £5 in advance. There will be a number of tickets available on the door priced at £6. Guarantee entry and book your ADVANCE £5 e-ticket now at: http://www.amiando.com/Bottoms_Up.html
