Put a spring in your step and add bounce to your bonce at Sassoon Liverpool.

The cold weather can really batter your hair over winter. My mid-length style was left feeling flat with dry, lifeless layers so I was desperate to do something about it.

Spotting the launch of Sassoon’s exciting new Blow & Style menu, with looks designed to either subtly enhance or totally transform, I decided to blast away the winter blues with a visit.

Prices start from £35 (including shampoo, massage and conditioner) and you can choose from a menu to suit any look you’re going for. There’s Signature Sassoon, straight and sleek, the VIP Voluminous and the Glam Wave or the relaxed Dishevelled for those after that ‘just-got-out-of-bed’ look. The Curly Wave and Beach Wave caught my eye, for a naturally tousled style with a touch of class.

Located in Liverpool’s Metquarter, the salon is bright, welcoming and stylish, reflecting the quality and care that will be taken with your hair.

My appointment with Sassoon Liverpool’s Creative Director Nathan Richardson was helpful and reassuring. He talked me through styles that suit mid–long length hair and, during the consultation, I explained that I wanted a fresh cut that would suit my natural waves or that could be straightened for a sleek, professional look. He listened and responded with advice to cut out the layers, making it one length resting on my shoulders. Furthermore, as I was going to a party the following night, he advised I’d suit a blow dry somewhere between the Curly and Beach Wave so that a loose wave would hold for 48 hours.

Confident I was in safe hands, I settled into my shampoo and massage. I was also offered an instant protein-rich conditioning treatment (£15) to moisturise my dried out ends and protect my hair from heat damage. Nostrils filled with the luxurious scents of Sassoon products, it was wonderful to sit back in the quiet and calm surroundings in the salon. Every staff member I spoke to had been working at the salon at least three years, and it is easy to see why it would be hard to leave.

Back with Nathan for my cut and blow, who has been Creative Director at Sassoon Liverpool for seven years, I was thrilled to see my newly revived locks taking shape in his expert hands. I marvelled at his swift skill and precision for my blow dry. Finished off with curling tongs, the result was a lush look that I would never have achieved at home. My hair felt lighter and soft to the touch with no trace of winter damage.

Prices vary for cuts depending on the level of experience of your stylist (see Sassoon website for price list). At £35+ for the Blow of your choice, it won’t make too much of a dent in your bank balance but it will give you that much needed confidence boost as we head towards Summer.

Leaving the salon, I smiled noticing Sassoon’s tag line – Feel Freedom – and you really can’t put a price on that!

9/10 Blown away!
