Radio 1’s freebie extravaganza is storming its way to Carlisle Airport, Cumbria from 14-15 of May.

If there’s any question as to whether Radio 1 could rival the festival big guns, this year the Beeb have called in blazing armory with a pop line-up to put its peers to shame.

This year sees the free event welcome back the Foo Figthers for headline duties six years since they rocked Sunderland.

This is the first chance to see the nicest man in rock and his compatriots churning up the festival circuit this year.

At the other end of the wide Radio 1 spectrum comes the jaw-dropping announcement of pop chameleon Lady Gaga. Swedish House Mafia and The Strokes will also be tickling tastebuds on the In New Music We Trust Stage.

Friendly Fires, Pulled Apart by Horses, The Vaccines, Wretch 32, Two Door Cinema Club and Nicole Sherzinger will also be playing the 40,000 outdoor capacity event.

As in previous years tickets are free and will be allocated randomly, but weighted in favour of those living in Cumbria and the surrounding areas, including the Scottish Borders and North East of England.

Tune in to Scott Mills on Radio 1 at from 6.30am tomorrow to find out how you can get tickets.
