‘Geet yer heed rooond thiss’ – the latest acts confirmed for summer’s sizzling festival opener RockNess have been revealed.
Following the euphoria-inducing soundtrack they brought to the Loch and beautiful Dores last year, our friends at the esteemed Soma Records return with an almighty slab of electronic brilliance headed up by the legend that is Green Velvet.
Famed for delivering live shows that are quite simply unmatched in exuberance, this pioneer who shaped the early Chicago house scene promises to serve up a masterclass in dark, dirty dancefloor slammers as he unleashes his brilliance on the Arcadia Afterburner.
A sensory overload indeed, the likes of which Scotland has never seen. Other acts confirmed under the brilliant Soma roster are Silicone Soul, Fergie, Gary Beck, Edit Select and Vector Lovers.
Also providing a superlative sonic feast in the mighty Arcadia Afterburner will be the Glasgow institution that is the Sub Club who return to whip you into an appropriate frenzy with a line up that so far includes the brilliant Optimo, Sub Culture and Sensu, with more very special surprises still to come. Stay tuned to Purple Revolver for more info.
Exuding the very definition of New York cool – for it was them who helped shape the scene their successors and RockNess headliners The Srokes and Vampire Weekend now so brilliantly lead – is Blondie.
With a back catalogue of cascading hits so iconic and so fantastic, Blondie at RockNess will be a unique moment of good time, sing-along festival vibes in the company of one of the best pop bands of all time.
Adding to this musical nirvana is a raft of exciting talent, each one brilliant and eclectic – The Maccabees, Crystal Castles, Norman Jay, Barry Ashworth, Toolroom Records’ Mark Knight, Alabama 3, Essential Mix of the Year recipient High Constant, The Selector’s Goldielocks, Starsmith, prog trancer B Tone, wonder kids Fenech Soler, Tango In The Attic, Dananananaykroyd, Vendor Defender and Kids On Bridges,
There will be electro street beats galore too with Tinie Tempah, Killa Kella, A.Skillz, Luca, Freestylers, Fridge Magnets, Boom Monk Ben, Benji Boko, General Jimmy, The Petebox and The Coronas.
With more announcements set to follow, the summer starts at RockNess 2010.
