Microsoft have released a premiere date for their first wave of original programming, ‘Xbox Originals.’

Xbox Originals is a series of twelve projects which can all be viewed through any Microsoft device including Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Unlike other non television networks like Netflix who were cautious about releasing their own content, Microsoft are putting all of their eggs in one basket and have created a large range of programming covering a variety of different subjects in order to appeal to a wide audience.

The different types of programming Microsoft will be covering include comedies, scripted dramas, documentaries and reality TV.

Some of the content that you can look forward to include a football themed mini series named ‘Every Street United’,a detective thriller called Gun Machine and a Halo series produced by E.T director Steven Spielberg.

As well as their own original content, Microsoft will also be offering coverage on live events including music festivals such as Bonnaroo. Xbox Live subscribers will be offered the chance to watch performances on stage with different camera angles to toggle between, as well as a backstage camera. These features will not be offered anywhere else.

All of this has been made possible by Xbox Entertainment Studios, created in 2012, this was created in order to offer new entertainment and interactive content for Xbox consoles and the online services.

Nancy Tellem, president of the Xbox Entertainment Studios gave an insight of what she hopes to achieve with the new programming.

‘What we’re interested in is giving subscribers a reason to stay on our platform.’

‘We’re really focused on the fans of the Xbox, the millennials, many of whom are not subscribing to cable, and use a console as their entertainment device.’

All of the new programmes and features will be available to stream from June 13th of this year.
