Mercury Music Prize Nominees Announced

Lauren Lavern announced this year’s shortlist for the Mercury Music Prize. Always a controversial issue, the nominees may come as a surprise to many a punter. The list is as follows:

Ghostpoet – Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam
Gwilym Simcock – Good Days at Schloss Elmau
James Blake – James Blake
Katy B – On a Mission
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins – Diamond Mine
Metronomy – The English Riviera
PJ Harvey – Let England Shake
Tinie Tempah – Disc-Overy

With a mixture of chart successes and indie underdogs, this years short list will prove difficult to choose from. As last years winners The XX already know, whoever is lucky enough to be chosen could excel into super stardom.
