Liverpool has been announced as the city to host the next MOBO Awards, which is to be held on October 20th.

Following the success of last year’s MTV Europe Music Awards, the ECHO arena has been given the opportunity to play host to the stars again for another international music event.

The MOBO organisers will be particularly keen to make the occasion one to remember as it is celebrating its 15th year.

X factor winner and MOBO ambassador Leona Lewis was the one to break the news alongside Ben Osu. The Toxteth born Osu started an online campaign to bring the MOBO’s to his home city and his hard work and enterprise ultimately paid dividends.

The bleeding love singer said, “I used to watch the MOBOs growing up and I’m now the proud owner of two awards so I’m delighted to be here to help commemorate their 15th year.

Lewis continued, “I performed in the arena a few days ago and I got such an amazing reception. The crowd were great so I think Liverpool is the perfect choice for this year’s MOBO Awards.”

Expectations for a jaw dropping line up are warranted after looking through the MOBO’s impressive list of past performers such as Jay Z, Tina Turner, Destiny’s Child, Sade and Amy Winehouse.
