The UK’s biggest indoor winter music festival kicks off in less than four weeks as details have been announced for this year’s Liverpool Music Week 2011 free show agenda.

This year’s event has seen LMW HQ deliver one of their most cutting edge line ups ever.

Acts confirmed so far for the festival which kicks off on Friday 28th October and runs until Sunday 13th November include, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Summer Camp, Twin Sister, Big Deal, Tribes, The Young Knives, Foreign Beggars, Dels, Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

The Duke Spirit, Stealing Sheep, Lanterns on the Lake, Three Trapped Tigers, Marcus Foster, Baxter Dury and Lucky Beaches.

Events include the previously announced sold-out launch show with The Horrors and the incredible closing party headlined by the Mercury Prize nominated Ghostpoet along with The Whip, The Phantom Band, Gross Magic, D/R/U/G/S, Cerebal Ballzy, Outfit and many more.

This year the winter festival has been nominated as Fans Best Festival in the UK Festival Awards, (See below for details on how you can vote) a huge accolade which coincides with the announcement of the most exciting free line-ups in the event’s nine year history.

A selection of the UK’s best up and coming artists will be showcased – for free – at one of the city’s best new music hotspots – MOJO.

The free music agenda has always been the integral part of the festival’s blueprint, and due to the success of last year’s partnership, MOJO once again has been chosen to host the bulk of the free festival.

This year fans will also be able to get the chance to see breaking new acts and firm live favourites such as Twin Sister, Summer Camp, Big Deal, The Duke Spirit, The Young Knives, Tribes, Foreign Beggars, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Dels, Three Trapped Tigers, Marcus Foster and Baxter Dury.

Proceedings will be wrapped up by festival faves Frankie & The Heartstrings.

Another free show announced is the highly acclaimed Lanterns on the Lake at Leaf Café on Bold Street.

A further selection of special events are still to be announced across the city centre at The Kazimier, Static Gallery, Wolstenholme Creative Space and Mello Mello.

Elsewhere, Hyde and Beast, DJ Derek, DJ Wrongtom, The Loud, Warm Brains, Eagulls, and Liverpool’s very own Lucky Beaches have been added to the event at the Contemporary Urban Centre.

LMW Director Mike Deane said ‘We are thrilled at the agenda we have pulled together for 2011. A sold out opening show with one of the hottest bands on the planet and a hugely ambitious closing show at one of the city’s most intriguing venues.’

‘Once again, the free festival we’ve announced is a blinder – our best to date – showcasing the best new bands out there alongside the freshest talent our great city has to offer. We can’t wait for this year’s festival to kick off.’

You can access more information on these shows by checking the festival Facebook page – www.facebook.com/officialliverpoolmusicweek

If you are looking to go to MOJO free shows, please be advised to attend early. Doors at 7pm each show.

Further announcements on ways of guaranteeing entrance will appear on the LMW Facebook page.
