Saturday at Leeds Festival started as it intended to continue, with a punch in the face and a kick in the balls…. welcome local heroes Pulled Apart By Horses who got an immense reception from a hungover, muddy and weary Leeds faithful.
The same stage which Liam Gallagher and his Oasis (minus Noel) chums that make up Beady Eye closed several hours and many ciders later.
The main stage was headlined by emo-superstars My Chemical Romance who must take the award for most dedicated fans on the planet as many of them graced the mainstage barrier from the start of the day and didn’t move til the last moment of their blistering set.
Prior to MCR’s grand finale 30 Seconds To Mars kept the crowd entertained with Jared Leto’s posturing and posing delighting their fanbase which appeared to be 95 per cent female.
Other notable acts throughout the day included the Naked and Famous, Patrick Wolf and Cerebral Ballzy.
The Vaccines managed to pack out the NME tent and Tim Minchin who drew a huge crowd to the Alternative Stage with eager festival-goers packed like sardines and spilling out of the tent trying to hear the antipodean’s unique brand of musical humour.
