Grillstock is back this Summer and it’s bigger, better and louder. Bristol is set for a taste of the Deep South with the UK’s biggest ever US-style barbecue competition.

Grillstock 2011 is a two-day BBQ and Music Festival taking over Bristol’s waterfront on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July celebrating the best of alfresco living.

Last year’s inaugural show was a great success with 6,000 visitors. Over 240 kilos of quality British meat was basted, smoked, grilled and sampled by the public and two tons of charcoal and wood was burnt by ten of the UK’s top barbecue teams.

This year Grillstock looks set to double the number of visitors and the organisers have already signed up 20 professional and semi-pro barbecue teams as well as some great sponsors including Weber UK, Newman’s Own and Costco.

Music will play an even bigger part this year with the likes of Hayseed Dixie, The Martin Harley Band and Sarah Savoy and the Francadians performing on the Music Stage and setting their unique styles of Blues, Cajun and rockabilly.

Grillstock director, Jon Finch said: “We were delighted with last year’s successful debut but that was just a taster of what we have planned for this year. Grillstock 2011 will be bigger, better and louder.”

Jon said: “At the heart of the show is the ‘King Of The Grill’ competition, which was won last year by Bristol’s own Cowshed Restaurant team. It is a great spectacle with plenty to see and taste and categories including: Best Chicken; Best Ribs; Best Pork Shoulder; Best BBQ Beans and Best Brisket.”

This year there will be more for the whole family with more great music, the Grillstock Beer and Cider Festival, a Pimms Bar, the Grillstock Canteen, Newman’s Own BBQ Academy, the Grillstock Marketplace, a Chilli Eating Competition, free children’s entertainment and entertainment from Bristol’s own ‘Invisible Circus’ with the highlight ‘Fire Show’ on Saturday evening.
