Game of Thrones beauty Nathalie Emmanuel will star in the eagerly-awaited audiobook version of the UK’s answer to the best selling Twilight series.
The British actress, better known as Missandei in the hit HBO series, will play the daughter of a suspected murderer in the adaptation of the much-hyped novel, The Killing Woods.
Producers said that her experience on gritty Channel 4 shows Hollyoaks and Misfits made her the ‘obvious choice’ as Emily, the book’s lead character.
The Killing Woods is due to hit the shelves next month and has been tipped to become an overnight sensation aimed at a young-adult market.
It has been likened to a ‘homegrown’ version of the Twilight Saga which enjoyed huge worldwide success both as a novel series and film franchise.
Speaking for the first time about her audiobook debut Emmanuel, 24, said the experience of recording the audiobook was a ‘wonderfully challenging learning curve’.
The 24 year-old actress said: “As a huge audiobook fan, I was over the moon about being asked to get involved in The Killing Woods.
“It is a fantastic book and one that lends itself perfectly to audio.
“But I knew it wouldn’t be easy.
“Emily is a complex young woman whose life is thrown into turmoil, and giving her character a voice, away from the written word, was a wonderfully challenging learning curve.”
Set in contemporary England, The Killing Woods is described as a dark, gripping novel that tells the story of a daughter whose father is accused of murdering a teenage girl.
With the help of the victim’s boyfriend, Damon, she sets out to clear her father’s name by investigating what really took place that night.
The book by author Lucy Christopher is one of the most anticipated releases of 2013.
Christopher, who has already secured an international fan base, added: “I’m looking forward to the release of both the book and the audio version.
“I would like to thank each and every one of my readers for their unwavering and kind support.”
A spokesman for AudioGO added: “The Killing Woods is a wonderfully atmospheric novel, and we are enormously excited about working with Lucy, Nathalie and others to bring it to life as a gripping audiobook.”
The Killing Woods is set to be released simultaneously as a print edition and AudioGO audiobook on October 3rd.
