Ho Ho Ho and a very Merry Scousemas to you. It’s official – the big day is only around the corner.
Last minute shoppers can be seen haring around town, wielding credit cards, with begrudging other halves and children in tow, and arms laden with shopping bags full of what is now known as ‘Christmas cheer’.
Remember Tiny Tim from ‘A Christmas Carol’ ? The happy chappy who wanted nothing more than to spend Christmas with his family? Well, we reckon he had the right idea.
Instead of presents, wrap yourselves up warm this Christmas and head into Liverpool with family, friends or other halves for some quality time at some top notch events.
With so much going on, you’re bound to be feeling the festive spirit in no time.
1. Christmas Cult Film nights at The Buyers Club
Christmas is a time for The Four F’s : Food, Friends, Family and most definitely Films. At the buyer’s club between the 8th and 22nd December, you’ll get all four with comfort food by pop-up restauranteurs ‘The Secret Dining Club’ , cocktails and cult classics including Elf, Bad Santa and Home Alone.

2. Tree Market
Alright, so a little consumerism is permitted, but only if it’s a Christmas tree shopping at Camp and Furnace. Their pop-up tree shop will be open right up until the 21st of December for you last-minute-dot-commers.
Better still, you can follow up your successful purchase with a mince pie and a mulled wine, or two, inside.
3. The Speakeasy Christmas Ball
Travel back to the roaring twenties for a Christmas party filled with all the decadence and mystery of the prohibition years. There’ll be forbidden drinks, gangsters and glamorous flapper girls at Aintree Racecourse this year, immersing you in an authentic Chicago speakeasy experience.
Twenties attire is optional but encouraged – so get your glad rags on and all that jazz.

4.The snowflake trail
It’s pretty hard not to miss the ma-hoosive snowflake and 2.5 metre wide book in Williamson Square.
In case you were wondering, it’s all part of a family treasure trail with the aim being to visit each of 12 snowflakes placed around the city centre and answer the clues.
Send off your answers (via freepost) to win prizes worth over 5K. We’d like to remind you that this event is for children, before you big kids get over-excited!

5. Merry Mexican
Roast Turkey is old news – this year it’s all about duck tacos.
Spice up your Christmas dinner this year with Lucha Libre’s alternative festive menu, including a selection of their awesome Mexican street food with a Christmas twist, plus a cocktail and dessert.
6. Bar Hutte L1
We love a good pop up bar! Luckily for us, a new one has sprouted underneath Liverpool One’s 30 foot Christmas Tree.
From the people who gave you the L1 Beach Bar in the Summer, these Alpine-inspired chalets are the perfect place to kick back for a Christmas bevvy with friends. Partake in a spot of ‘carol-oke’ in the ‘Disco Hutte’, or cosy up with a blanket and hot drink in the ‘Apres-Ski Hutte’.
So what are you waiting for? Forget your wishlist, write yourselves a Christmas bucket list instead. Whether a night of twenties Charlston dancing is your jam, or perhaps just a chilled movie night at Buyers Club, there’s bound to be some festive fun for everyone in the family. Tiny Tim would be proud. * sniff *
