Will.I.Am is unlikely to make the list of top ten Royal engagements after he mad two faux pas within the space of four words by hollering ‘Happy Birthday, Your Highness’ to Her Majesty during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Motown legend Stevie Wonder had the crowd eating out of his palm with an uplifting rendition of Isn’t She Lovely before calling Will on stage to join him for Happy Birthday.
All was well until Will was handed a mic, and he felt he could add to the song by shouting ‘Yo’ over the top of Stevie’s singing. Thankfully he sensed the mood and zigzagged off the stage.
Looking like a toy soldier with one of his trademark jackets in Union Jack colours with red gloves and white trousers, his earlier performance of I Gotta Feeling was judged one of the worst moments on the Twittersphere.
Will has been a guilty pleasure on The Voice, but he appears to believe he has been accepted into British society and is on a quest to introduce the word ‘dope’ into every day language – but this was a step too far. Why couldn’t the American artists have prepped themselves on what the Jubilee was all about? Wake up Will.
The Black Eyed Peas chief star even fulfilled a lifelong ambition by carrying the Olympic Torch through Taunton, Sommerset, although he spent the first 30 seconds stumbling blindly forward as he tweeted on his mobile.
Will.I.Am – so bad, he’s good. What’s next Will?
